Human Pressure
How far the land in each district has been altered by people, and how that has changed.
About this module
Human modification Published index is the Global Human Modification index, version 3, published by researchers at The Nature Conservancy. It combines farming, building, roads, mining, energy, logging and pollution into one figure from 0 to 1 for every 300 m of land. Tinga Lens averages it over each district and ranks the districts. Tinga Lens did not create the index. Read the methods.
Change since 1990 shows the difference between the 1990 and 2020 figures. A district can have high pressure that is stable, or low pressure that is rising quickly.
Built-up area Observed shows the ground covered by buildings at five dates from 2000 to 2020, from the Global Human Settlement Layer.
Exposure In development would show how much development and how many people are on flood-prone land. Nothing is published for it yet.
